The Lodge

This cute building is what is called the Lodge. It is just a couple of miles to the north of us. Not so long ago one of the guys that has a cabin up there though he was doiong a good thing and cleared a ton of brush and old buildings that had falled down and he buried all of it. I have been having fits in my sleep about it ever since. Not that it is any of my business, but I just love the history the whole place has. The front of this building used to be a porch covered with Virginia Creeper until the man got too close to the front of the building with the bull dozer. It was in need of repair before but now it just looks like a heap of junk on the front. A few nights ago I had a dream we cleaned it up and repaired the roof and opened a cafe in it. We just served breakfast on the weekends. I told Sage and Jeremy about it and now Sage is coloring signs and menus. Of course the structure doesn't even belong to me so why would I put a bunch of money into it much less do I have permission.........but I have been brainstorming ideas about getting everyone in the area to pitch in and fix it up, just a bit to make it a common meeting place for everyone to use. It probably will never happen but it never hurts to dream.

Jeremy and Linda's Wednesday Ride

I am making you look really close on this picture to find everybody. It's like one of those find it pictures in the doctors office! Even the dogs are in there.
The horse Jeremy is riding is a horse we call Flash, JB Poco Jack Flash is his registered name. He is coming four this spring. He sure is coming along nice and is for sale! For now anyhow, if he keeps improving like he does we will keep him and show him.

Jeremy and Flash trying to get the Cenntenial steers out of here. Kate had to work overtime!

I wanna ride by my self daddy......

CHEESE!!!

I'll hold him daddy. See that saddle up on ol Chico. I was at Grandpa's house last week and was in the container looking for something when I saw this saddle and I said (without thinking before I spoke) "that saddle would be perfect for the kids!". I wanted to find a saddle that had a higher back, like the old buckaroo saddle to kind of keep them in. Grandpa has quite the collection of anything a cowgirl (or boy) could every want. Well, we went down there for a few things yesterday and he had that saddle sitting out by his chair and the first thing he said to Sage, after she jumped in his lap and gave him a hug (her regular greeting to him) he told her he wanted her to have it. It was such a sweet gift! I can't wait to take him a picture of the kids riding in it.

I sure wish you could see his smiling face. He was twottin! All by himself! Boy, if you could have only seen him kicking! I just couldn't have prouder today. Sage has riddin him everyday for the last five days since we have had him. And then today Steele wanted to ride. I think we are gonna keep ol Chico........

Steele Cameron @ Equine Affair

This is Steele playing in the dirt while we watched poor Chris Cox get slammed into the fence by an ill prepared 17H horse. I guess that is why someone brought it to a clinic but I sure would have been embarassed if my horse had done something like that.........anyhow.
He thought it was important he cover his hands completely in dirt so of course he had to pat it down with his face. I wish I would have gotten the picture of his face when he looked up but I think that was the point I was mortified and got up to wash his face.

Some more Chico

Jeremy finished up riding this afternoon just in time for us to have an hour before dark to have some playtime on the horses. Steele had gone to down for a nap so it was just the three of us. This is about the fourth time Sage has ridden Chico. The plan was to go outside on the trail to see how Sage is able to get along with him but she wanted to spend some more time getting used to him in the arena. I thought it was a good idea. So far she is getting along with him beautifully. He is taking advantage of her sometimes but it is not bad and she will learn from it.
Sage wanted me to ride for a minute so I had to kick off my shoes since I was wearing crocs. I was pretty pleased my butt fit in Sage's little saddle. I was teasing Jeremy and telling him to leave that mustang alone and just ride him. He kept arguing with me and finally I said "you know what I mean!" and next thing you know we were ripping around the arena! It was so fun, little did I know Sage was taking pictures. We all had a really great time and even saw a big ol fat pig. The dogs kicked him up over near where the fifth wheel is parked.

Here is your yucky stuff daddy.

My little man was playing in the tack room today while daddy worked horses. Then he found a mostly empty can of chew and had to give it back to him. At least he didn't try and shove it in his pocket this time.

Ron

This cute boy is a horse we call Ron. I can't even remember his registered name, it is on the for sale page of our website. Anyhow, I have started working with him and maybe I will start him, or maybe I will wimp out at the last minute and make Jeremy ride him for me. I has been awhile that I have started a colt. He sure isn't trying to do anything wrong and picking up things very fast. I hope he will make someone a nice horse someday.
